Visit Longyearbyen, the capital of Spitsbergen and join a fabulous four day snowmobile tour with an overnight stay in the Russian mining community Barentsburg and two nights at the new Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge.
Beginning in Longyearbyen you receive a full briefing before you pack all equipment and set out towards Barentsburg. Enjoy lunch on the way to Vârsolbukta, located at the mouth of the Van Mijenfjord. After a night in the Russian community of Barentsburg you set off heading south towards the spectacular Fridtjovbreen Glacier, followed by a drive along the Van Mijenfjord and the Reindalen valley. Your home for the next two nights is the new Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge in Brentskardet.
There are several options for the next day and you may head for the abandoned setttlement of Pyramiden or the Nordenskiöld Glacier. After a final night at the Lodge this adventurous safari is rounded off with a trip to the east coast, where you may even have a chance to spot polar bears.
On return to Longyearbyen, enjoy dinner with your fellow travellers and a chance to re-cap on the adventures of the past couple of days. Depart after another night here.
No experience of driving a snowmobile is necessary, but participants should be confident drivers (drivers licence is required).
Day 1
Fly to Oslo, stay overnight at an airport hotel.
Day 2
Fly to Longyearbyen and stay overnight at the Spitsbergen Hotel (B).
Day 3
After breakfast meet with your guide for a briefing. Pack equipment and set out towards Barentsburg. Dinner and overnight stay (B, L, D).
Day 4
Drive towards the Fridtjovbreen glacier and the Van Mijenfjorden, overnight stay at the Spitsbergen Expedition Lodge (B, L, D).
Day 5
Day trip to the Tempelfjord, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 6
We plan to visit the east coast before we head back to Longyearbyen. Dinner and overnight stay (B, L, D).
Day 7
Return flights (B).

All participants should be reasonably fit and prepared for extreme temperatures and the exact itinerary of our days will be dictated by weather and snow conditions. Participants are expected to help prepare for each trip.
