Combined with a stay in Bergen and several nights onboard Hurtigruten you will explore the dramatic Lofoten Islands. Shrouded in legend and mystery, this exceptional itinerary gives you three full days exploring this exquisite corner of Norway.
The journey begins with your transfer along Vesterålen to the Lofoten Islands and arriving at the charming fishermen’s cabins at Svinøya Rorbuer situated in Svolvær, the ‘capital’ of the Lofoten Islands in the late afternoon.
You will have three full days to relax and explore this enchanting setting. There are plenty of options and activities available, including boat trips to the imposing Trollfjord, bike hire and a myriad of walking trails. You could visit Kabelvåg, the oldest village in the islands, with its 12th century church, or discover a re-creation of a Viking Longhouse.
We have included a safari to the magnificent Trollfjord – where the mountains meet the sea and the idyllic island of Skrova. You will also see white sandy beaches and crystal clear sea and keep your eyes open for sea eagles! Departing the Islands we spend three nights on the southbound voyage to Bergen, crossing the Arctic Circle and sailing past the mythical Seven Sisters and Torghatten mountains.
Reaching Bergen, a world heritage city, in the early afternoon we transfer to a centrally located hotel, allowing time to explore Bergen’s picturesque harbour area and the World Heritage site of Bryggen. Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive and transfer to Lofoten Islands and Svinøya Rorbuer fisherman’s cabins for three nights on half board basis.
Day 2 - 3
Excursion to Trollfjord, then free time to explore Svolvær and the Lofoten Islands. Numerous excursions and activities available locally, including walks and cycle rides.
Day 4
Early evening departure on the southbound Coastal Voyage. Dinner included on board.
Day 5 - 6
Sail southbound to Bergen.
Day 7
Arrive Bergen early afternoon and transfer to hotel. Free time.
Day 8
Free time to explore Bergen, depending on your chosen flight.
